Do You Need to Work With a Website Designer to Build a Website?

Short answer, no, you don’t actually need a web designer to build a website.

If you’re willing to learn the basics of the platform, and put in the time, you can definitely get launched using Squarespace, Showit, or any of the other online website building platforms out there.

Squarespace is the most powerful and user-friendly drag and drop platform on the market, which is why I recommend it to all of my service-based clients.

It’s an all-in-one platform which means that you can do everything from booking clients, to building an email list, to automated marketing and way more all in one place, no plugins required.

It’s also easy to pass custom designed sites on to clients, along with a quick demo so they can feel empowered to make little changes to their site without having to hire a developer every time they need a small update.

So there you have it: no, you don’t need to hire a designer to build a website!

However, there are some major benefits to hiring a professional designer, and certain circumstances under which is makes way more sense.

Benefits of hiring a professional designer:

→You get access to years of experience of working on other websites and knowing what converts and what doesn’t

→Save time. Don’t kid yourself, even on the easiest platform, it’s going to take you time to figure everything out and put it all together

→It’s pretty much guaranteed to look better than anything you will DIY

It may be time to hire a professional website designer if:

→You’ve been in business for a couple of years + and you know the value of working with pros

→Your website is the primary source of leads and it needs to convert

→You’ve DIY-ed in the past, and you want an upgrade from what you’re capable of

→You need custom integrations on your site outside of what’s available on your platform

→You want design elements that require the use of custom code

→You just don’t want to bother with it, and need a professional to come in and get it done!
