My Brand Strategy Process Revealed

As a brand designer, I understand that the foundation of a successful brand goes beyond just aesthetics. It’s about creating a cohesive strategy that resonates with your audience, communicates your core values, and positions you effectively in the market. My process is designed to uncover and define your brand in a way that sets you apart and drives long-term success.

Step 1: The Client Questionnaire

The first step in our journey together is a very short, straightforward questionnaire. I believe in making things easy for you—after all, strategy is my job, not yours. This questionnaire won’t ask you to do any heavy lifting, but it will help me understand the fundamentals of your business. More importantly, it gets you thinking about your business, your audience, and your goals in a new way. It’s a gentle nudge to start putting words to the vision you have in your mind, laying the groundwork for the strategy we’ll build together.

Step 2: The Strategy Call – Discover and Define

Next, we’ll meet for a strategy call. This is where the magic begins. During this call, we’ll dive deep into your brand—what I like to call the "discover and define" phase. This conversation is all about uncovering the core elements of your brand: who you are, what you stand for, and what sets you apart. By the end of this call, we’ll have a clear picture of your brand’s identity and the direction we need to take.

Step 3: Developing Your Detailed Brand Strategy

With the insights from our strategy call in hand, I move on to crafting a detailed strategy that’s tailored specifically to your brand. This strategy document is your roadmap to success, broken down into several key components:

Defining the Brand: We’ll clarify your brand’s core values, mission, and positioning. This is the heart of your brand, the essence of what you want to communicate to the world.

Audience Insights: Here, we dig into who your target audience is and how you can create content that not only resonates with them but also makes you their preferred choice over the competition. It’s about building a connection that lasts.

Competitor Analysis: I conduct a basic competitor analysis to see where you stand in the market. This helps us develop a unique value proposition that will help you stand out and attract the right audience.

Brand Voice and Messaging: Consistency is key. We’ll define your brand’s voice and messaging to ensure that every piece of communication you put out is aligned and effective in reaching your target audience.

Step 4: Delivery and Interpretation

Once the strategy is complete, I deliver it to you in a beautifully designed PDF document. But I don’t just hand it over and leave you to figure it out on your own. Along with the document, you’ll receive a Loom video where I provide a "director’s commentary." This voiceover walks you through the strategy, helping you understand how to interpret and implement it in your business.

Step 5: Visual Direction

The final pages of your strategy document are dedicated to visual direction. Here, I curate a mood board and color palette that aligns with the strategy we’ve developed. This visual guide sets the stage for the next phase—bringing your brand to life through design.
